Thailand Study Tour 2020 - 2021
When & Where
Important Details
We are so excited that you are joining us for an educational trip to Thailand in! We want to make sure
you are aware that traveling overseas comes with certain risks. While we will try to minimize risks, using
the knowledge we have gained from previous travels in the area, we cannot eliminate risks and there
are many things that we simply cannot control.
We ask that you take the time to learn about Thailand and things that you can do to protect yourself
while traveling. A very good source of information is the United States Department of State. Please
review its website: https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/country/thailand.html for important
information about diseases present in Thailand, issues of personal safety, laws in Thailand, and other
helpful information. The U. S. Department of State also offers the opportunity to register as a traveler
to a foreign country through its STEP Program (https://step.state.gov/step/) so that the government can
alert you of new dangers that may arise while you are traveling.
It is also important that you understand that the laws of Thailand are very different than the laws of the
United States. In the United States, we have freedom of speech and you may freely speak out and
criticize elected officials. Possession of illegal drugs and shoplifting are treated more severely
in Thailand than in the United States.
The U.S. State Department factsheet indicates that basic medical care in Thailand is generally adequate.
However, the U.S. State Department recommends travelers contact their current health insurance
company to verify whether their current health insurance policy covers the cost of obtaining medical
care in another country and whether coverage provides for medical transportation/evacuation back to
the United States. If your current health insurance does not cover treatment outside the U.S. or medical
evacuation back to the U.S., you may wish to purchase additional insurance coverage for those
occurrences. You are responsible for your own travel insurance. No travel insurance is offered directly through Elevate Massage Training.
