TRAINING
Our Ashiatsu courses are designed to build upon the principles of professional touch that are taught in massage school. Therefore, we require our students to have a license to practice massage therapy as a prerequisite to taking our Ashiatsu courses. Having this prerequisite allows us to place a strong focus on technique application during our classes. Our courses are classified as Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3.
To complete this Level 2 training you will need to have taken the Level 1 Barefoot Bar Basics. You'll also need a moderate level of core and upper body strength is needed along with some confidence in your ability to balance while standing and stepping on and off the table. Barefoot massage therapists with some experience working on the bars will enjoy learning a new sequence of techniques for client side-lying, prone and supine positions. Silks and straps attached securely to the bar support structure will open up a new dimension of movement that is unavailable when working on parallel bars alone. Additional props, such as towels, hot pillows and various sizes of bolsters are used throughout the class to enhance technique delivery and help you work smarter, not harder! As always, post-class practice is considered the self-study component to each CE course.
Course Title : Intermediate Ashiatsu - Barefoot Side Lying + Props Level 2 Side Lying, Supine and Prone positions. This is a fun, interactive training that builds on your current barefoot skills. In addition to a complete sequence of techniques for side lying position you will learn how to increase the effectiveness of your sessions with new tools including silks, straps and heated pillows. This combination of techniques can be used to get more specific with your treatments, adds a new angle to your barefoot work and gives your arms and shoulders a break from being overhead. Access hard-to-reach areas of the body, initiate a deep relaxation response from the mind and body and work with clients who have difficulty lying on their stomach and/or back for extended periods.
At the end of this weekend immersion training LMTs will receive a CE certificate of completion to verify board approved continuing education and satisfy massage licensure renewal requirements. Additionally, LMTs will have a unique sequence of barefoot massage techniques that can be integrated in with other techniques as indicated with each client.
