Our Spotlight Massage Therapist, Nidia Miriam Biesinger, is a licensed massage therapist and owner of The Beauty Room by Nidia in Forrest City, Arkansas. She is passionate about helping clients find relief through therapeutic bodywork and believes continuing education is essential to providing the highest quality massage care.
Her goal was to find a technique that allowed her to deliver effective deep tissue massage while maintaining proper body mechanics. She understood the importance of this technique for her clients and was looking for a training program that could provide her with the knowledge and skills to excel in this area.
Why She Chose Ashiatsu Massage
Nidia discovered Elevate Massage Training through a fellow CE instructor. Intrigued by the Ashiatsu technique, which she believed was the best way to deliver deep tissue, she enrolled in an Elevate Massage Training course.
What Is Ashiatsu Massage? A Quick Reference
Ashiatsu massage is a barefoot massage technique in which therapists use overhead support bars for balance while applying broad, consistent pressure with their feet. Depending on the technique being performed, therapists may work from the massage table or use a specially positioned massage stool to achieve precise angles and controlled pressure. Many massage therapists choose Ashiatsu because it allows them to deliver effective deep tissue massage while reducing strain on their hands, wrists and shoulders. Clients often appreciate the deep, even pressure and deeply relaxing experience that Ashiatsu massage provides. For therapists like Nidia, Ashiatsu provides a way to deliver consistent deep pressure while helping preserve their own bodies and extend the length of their career.
When asked why she chose Ashiatsu massage, Nidia explained :
"I was very interested in barefoot <massage>. In my very personal opinion, I think that's the the best way to deliver deep tissue."
Ashiatsu massage has since become one of Nidia's preferred techniques for helping clients with chronic muscle tension. Encouraged by positive client feedback and her experience with Ashiatsu training, she continues her professional development by pursuing Thai Massage training for both the mat and the table.

Nidia continues to take Ashiatsu and Thai Massage classes, including mat-based classes and all of the Table Thai Rx classes. She particularly enjoys the flexibility of being able to apply what she learns on the mat to the table.
Nidia values the structured approach to teaching presented by Elevate Massage Training, noting that the classes are "by the book," with clear scripts, dates and times.
She also enjoys learning about the origins and history of the massage techniques and plans to travel to Thailand in 2028 with Elevate Massage Training for more study and cultural immersion.
"I just love Charlene (instructor/owner). She stays true to who developed this type of massage. I love that she begins her classes with a little bit background of Thai massage or Ashiatsu massage. That's one of my favorite parts."
