About Theresa Kuhn

Our Spotlight Massage Therapist, Theresa Kuhn, is a licensed massage therapist who works with Bridges for Parkinson's in Franklin, Tennessee.
Theresa has built a practice focused on helping individuals living with Parkinson's disease improve mobility, reduce rigidity and move with greater confidence. Using Thai Massage, assisted stretching and gentle movement techniques, she has created a unique approach that helps clients feel more comfortable in their bodies while supporting their overall quality of life.
In addition to her work with Parkinson's clients, Theresa offers yoga, Reiki and Past Life Regression. She is passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies through movement, mindful touch and lifelong learning.
Why She Chose Thai Massage
When Theresa first enrolled in Elevate Massage Training, she was looking for movement-based techniques that would complement traditional massage and allow her to better serve clients with complex needs.
What is Thai Massage? A Quick Reference
Thai Massage is a dynamic form of bodywork that combines rhythmic compression, assisted stretching and joint mobilization to promote relaxation, mobility and overall well-being. Traditionally performed with the client fully clothed, Thai Massage uses movement-based techniques to address the body as an interconnected system rather than focusing on isolated areas of tension. In traditional practice, these techniques are applied along energy pathways called Sen lines. Work along these lines is used to support circulation, reduce muscular tension and promote functional balance throughout the body.
When asked about her choice to study Thai Massage, Theresa explained :
"When I first began studying Thai Massage, I was looking for a way to help people move with greater ease and comfort. What I discovered through Elevate Massage Training was so much more than a collection of techniques—it completely changed the way I think about movement, body mechanics and therapeutic touch."
She found exactly what she was looking for. The emphasis on body mechanics, therapeutic movement, and practical application gave her new ways to help clients move more comfortably and confidently.
"I was drawn to Elevate Massage Training because I wanted to expand my skills beyond traditional massage and learn movement-based techniques that could make a real difference in people's lives. The quality of instruction, attention to body mechanics and practical, hands-on approach immediately stood out."
The principles Theresa learned became the foundation of her work with clients living with Parkinson's disease. Rather than relying on forceful stretching, she uses intentional movement and therapeutic touch to help address rigidity, poor posture, limited mobility and balance challenges. Over time, she has continued to adapt and refine these techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual she serves.
Sharing What She's Learned

Theresa's journey didn't stop with her own practice. Inspired by her experience with Elevate Massage Training, she is developing a continuing education course on Therapeutic Stretching for Parkinson's disease to help other massage therapists gain the skills and confidence to work with this community.
Her goal is to share practical, movement-based techniques that empower therapists to better support clients living with Parkinson's disease while expanding access to compassionate, specialized care.
For Theresa, however, the greatest reward continues to be the progress she sees in her clients every day.
"One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been seeing clients stand a little taller, walk with longer strides, breathe more deeply, or simply tell me they feel like themselves again after a session. Those moments remind me why I chose this profession."
